Another Year's Work for Happier Children

The Romanian Foundation for Children, Community and Family (FRCCF) stays true to the principle of transparency leading its work and publishes its 2006 results.

FRCCF launches the Annual Report for 2006, a year in which the Foundation was present in the life of over 14,000 people from Cluj, Bihor and Satu Mare with its programmes run in community centres, childcare institutions, and with its rural community development projects as well as child migration and trafficking prevention project.

For FRCCF, 2006 was a year of significant transformation due mainly to substantial changes in non-for-profit and child protection legislation and approach. The Foundation started to use new accreditation and licensing tools and to report to a greater number of authorities and financers. At the same time, FRCCF reviewed its strategy for the future, choosing to continue with urban and rural development programmes and close down, with the consent and sometimes at the request of financers, the projects implemented in placement centres or helping schools and those that reached their goals.

Moreover, thanks to its great work from 2006 and all the achievements that FRCCF has reached so far, starting this year [2007] the Foundation works in partnership with the Welfare Service of the Town Hall of Cluj-Napoca . We would like this kind of partnership between public and non-for-profit sectors to develop and to lead to social service assignment now that authorities state that they increasingly count on stimulating competition to raise service quality.

In the next year, we intend to continue our urban and rural development projects. Thus, we will stay true to our mission and we will try to involve in our projects organisations, institutions and donors from the communities that we target. We also want to be a major player in the development of the areas where we work: we want to help so that, gradually, through our social services, they can catch up with more developed EU regions. This can also be achieved through EU regional development funds that we are getting ready to access ” (Mihai-Florin Rosca, FRCCF Executive Director).
