“Together for Children” Day-Care Centres
The Social Protection Service of Cluj-Napoca Town Hall benefits from EU funding through 2004-2006 Phare programme – Economic and Social Cohesion / Social Services Component – of 166,610 EUR. The financed project, Together for Children Day-Care Centres , run in partnership with the Romanian Foundation for Children, Community and Family, started on the 20 th of January 2007 and will end after 18 months.
The overall project goal is to provide specialised social care to socially and economically disadvantaged families from the town of Cluj-Napoca . It also aims at strengthening the partnership between public institutions and NGO's by granting social services to shared beneficiaries.
The project targets a number of 300 families living in poverty and having lots of children. They will be assisted by the staff of two FRCCF day-care centres who will be directly involved in project implementation. A needs-based service plan will be drafted for each family. The families will benefit from social care, the unemployed will be helped to get a job, the beneficiaries will be informed about their rights as citizens, and they will receive legal, medical and psychological counselling. Each month, 100 children of 6 to 16 years old from these families will also be able to access psychological and medical counselling and will be get help to meet the school requirements: the children will come to the day-care centre every day where they will receive homework support, while the educational psychologist will help those who have special learning problems to overcome these troubles. Moreover, the children will take part in socialization activities and personal development groups.
The project is implemented in the following FRCCF day-care centres:
- EveryChild Centre, No 4 Ilie Macelaru Street, open Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. ;
- Day-Care Centre, No 33 Dumbrava Rosie Street , open Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
The total budget of Together for Children Day-Care Centres project is of 212,227 EUR. 78.51% of this amount is EU funding, while the rest of 14.2% (30,137 EUR) will be covered by the Cluj-Napoca Local Council and 7.29% (15,480 EUR) by the Romanian Foundation for Children, Community and Family. |
