Volunteers at the Community Centre, after their flight hours

75 aviators of the 31 Fighter Wing are volunteering at the Cîmpia Turzii in order to rearrange the FRCCF Community Centre adressing the marginalised children in town.

Over the last week the FRCCF Community Centre in Cîmpia Turzii was very crowded. Why? Not only do 40 children attend the daily activities but the military who came in town for an aviation drill deceided to get involved in the life of the community and to make the community centre a better place for the young children.

Befor coming to Romania, the aviators raised funds , about 3000 dollars but also school suppplies, toys and gear fo rthe community centre. Once they got there, they were busy working 10 even 12 hours every day and still had time to work at the community centre to reaarange the space for the children. We talk not only about the pilots but alsoabout their commanders and the people in charge of logistics.

As they told us, their greatest reward is to see the joy on children's faces when they step into a redecorated classroom or when they play on the new swing from the courtyard. Saturday, two of the volunteers celebrated their birthday with the children while they worked for the community centre.

This change for the better of the centre would have been impossible without this generous help. We are positive that from now on the children will attend it with further joy and excitement. Most of them have declared these days they would like to become pilots themselves.
